Lithium Transport Update 2

Effective immediately, Master Instruments is no longer able to send any Lithium Primary or Secondary (rechargeable) batteries by Airfreight.

Master Instruments was formally advised on Friday 2nd April of the changes outlined below.

Formal Advice:
“This is to advise you that as of 1 April 2015 shipments of UN3480 Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer Cells or Batteries under IATA Packing Instruction 965 will no longer be accepted for carriage on any Qantas Group Aircraft.  This restriction will apply to all domestic and international Qantas, Jetstar and Qantaslink passenger services as well as Qantas freight domestic and international freighter services.”

This is further to the previous change to not allow UN3090 Lithium Metal batteries (primary) onto aircraft for shipping – click here to see details.
