Sunswift Racing 2025
With just days to go before the UNSW Sunswift Racing team embarks on its 13th Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, the MI Engineering team was proud to support their final test day at Sydney Motorsport Park.
MI has been a long-time partner of Sunswift Racing, contributing to the engineering and assembly of the high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack powering their vehicles. We’ve also provided essential training, along with access to our advanced facilities and state-of-the-art testing, design, and assembly equipment at our Milperra head office.
Over the years, MI has worked closely with the UNSW team across several critical areas, including:
- Comprehensive power system evaluation to determine optimal energy requirements
- Cell selection and testing to ensure high-performance, balanced cells for maximum efficiency
- Battery module design and architecture, with careful consideration of weight distribution and component integration
- Performance validation to confirm cell capacity and identify anomalies before integration
- Precision module construction using Poron welders to ensure consistent inter-cell connections
- Final module testing and real-world simulations to prepare for seamless system integration
The Sunswift team has done an exceptional job preparing for this year’s challenge. We wish them the very best as they take on the journey ahead!
