Shipping Used Lithium Batteries

Standards Australia has released the first edition of "Used Lithium Batteries – Guidance on Safe Packaging and Transport by Road and Rail" (June 2026), developed with ABRI, Powering Australia, AFAC, EPA Victoria and other industry stakeholders. 

It consolidates dangerous goods, WHS, environmental, and product stewardship obligations into a single practical reference for anyone collecting, packaging, or transporting used lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries (UN3480/3481/3090/3091) across Australian road and rail networks.
